Program Changes for 2007-08:
  • Reduced time to graduation
    • Math 112, Math 113, Stat 336, concurrent Stat 336, 421, Stat 431
    • No longer required to take Math 214, Stat 441, or Stat 442.
  • Selected business courses required (Acc 200, BusM 300, Econ 110) instead of requiring Management minor.
  • Stat 469 Time Series offered Winter instead of Fall Semester
  • Strongly encourage an internship (Stat 496R) or participation in the Prediction Analytics Research Group (Stat 497R sec. 001)
  • Created the Predictive Analytics Research Group

Recommended Sequence of Courses for former PreMgmt majors:

This sequence assumes that you have received an A or A- in Math 119 to satisfy Math 112 and 113 and that you have taken Stat 221 (or AP Statistics) in Pre-Management core.

SAS Training

Stat 224 focuses on the data step and is sufficient for any SAS-related internship.
Stat 424 is advanced SAS programming and sets our alumni apart from other applicants in entry-level SAS jobs.

SMART Grant

Despite our appeal, the Business Analysis emphasis does not qualify for the SMART grant (see http://saas.byu.edu/depts/finaid/smart.aspx). If you interested in the money, please consider the Quality Science or Statistical Science emphases.
